King Shahrayar, heartbroken by his wife’s betrayal, vows to marry a virgin each night and have her beheaded in the morning. The women of the Kingdom live in terror, until Shahrazad , a beautiful and brave young woman, plots with her sister, Dinarzad, to volunteer as a bride and charm the King with her storytelling hoping that each morning he will postpone her execution.
Shahrazad spins out stories of adventures in strange and magical worlds populated by giant beasts, talking birds and crafty thieves including Ali Baba and Sinbad the Sailor. Will her silver-tongued storytelling save her life?
Fast paced physical theatre, exciting imagery, extraordinary entertainment bring to life the power and humour of these compelling tales.
