Sue Lefton
Sue is an Associate Director of the Mercury Theatre Company and has directed The Winter’s Tale, Nora, IPH… Death of a Salesman, Our Country’s Good, The Bay at Nice/Family Voices, Betrayal, Blood Wedding and The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and co-directed The Duchess of Malfi. As well as directing she has also worked on the choreography and movement for many Mercury productions.
With her own theatre company, Sue Lefton Productions, she produced and directed several successful productions including Miss Julie, Lady from the Sea and A Doll’s House, which was nominated for Best Play at the London Fringe Awards.
She has worked extensively as a Movement Director in the UK and abroad and most notably for fifteen years almost exclusively at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Her many other directorial credits include A Mad World My Masters at Shakespeare’s Globe and co-director of Emile Zola’s Nana for the Almeida and the West End.
For opera, most recently the Mozart Trilogy of the Da Ponte libretti: Cosi Fan Tutti, the Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni for the Opera National de Lyon, Verdi’s Macbeth for The MET in New York, Bizet’s Carmen at the Opera Comique in Paris, and Handel’s Alcina at the Vienna State Opera.
