A Slight Ache & The Lover

Director: Gari Jones

Cast includes: Andrew Neil, Dee Evans, Graeme Brookes, Gina Isaac, Gus Gallagher

This double bill by Harold Pinter features two of his most thought-provoking plays. Let psychological warfare commence! In A Slight Ache, a silent stranger, invited into the home of irritable essayist Edward and his wife Flora, begins to unravel the couple’s deepest desires and darkest fears. The Lover reveals the mysterious relationship of a young, married couple. Intriguing and puzzling.

Both plays look at the humour, paranoia and complexity of everyday relationships – a sort of surreal marital war and peace! Director Gari Jones (Depot, Under Milk Wood, The Lonesome West) collaborated with Harold Pinter for a number of years, directing him, his plays and as his Associate, including productions at the Royal National Theatre, the Almeida in the West End and at the Lincoln Centre’s Pinter Festival.

“There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false. A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false.” Harold Pinter 1958
