1720s exterior hides an Elizabethan mansion and a Carolean plaster ceiling, one of the best in England. Red Cross wartime hospital, famous hotel (both Robert Carrier and Ruth Watson were owners.) Guests at the 4-star hotel have recently encountered the many friendly ghosts.
