Built in 1698 in a splendid position by Sir James Tillie (who stipulated his body to be wired to his chair in the tower mausoleum to await resurrection. Two years later a statue was substituted.) Gardens by Humphry Repton, 1810 (his Red Book is in the house). Featured in Country House Rescue.
