The Abbey, Coggeshall
Recently restored Abbot’s stew pond was a feature when Edward II held court here in 1325; in 1293 the local vicar was gaoled for illegal fishing. Tour includes abbot’s house, chapel, guest house, riverside courtyard and knot-garden. Early and exceptionally fine medieval brickwork.
Tour approx 2 hours, £15 including tea or coffee with home-made cakes and biscuits.
