Forced to leave their failing crops in the dust bowls of Oklahoma, the impoverished Joad family journeys, with millions of others, hundreds of miles across America. They are following a dream they have seen painted on a handbill – the promise of plentiful jobs fruit-picking in the sunnier climes of California and the chance of a better life.

Their epic story of migration and discovery reveals a much harsher reality as the powerful and powerless collide.

Directed by Tony Casement (Journey’s End, The Promise), with a huge cast of Company favourites, The Grapes of Wrath captures a turbulent moment in American history and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1940.

The Mercury Theatre Company production of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men in 2005 was a huge success.
