Wretch
By Gari Jones
Tickets: £10.50 / £6.50 concessions
Director: Gari Jones
Following three performances here in June and a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, Gari Jones brings Wretch back to the Mercury Studio Theatre.
A compelling and exposing journey, led by an enquiring wretch, who says and does the unsayable, the undoable. Wretch features dark digital animation by a Macedonian artist, music (from hardcore to show tunes and karaoke) with live performance in a confrontational, sadistic attempt by one man to purge himself of his past and destroy his future, in order to live fully in the present.
Mixing contemporary with classical influences, Wretch plays with the idea that we all have a little ‘wretch’ or devil within us, causing us to do things that we shouldn’t. Are we responsible?
Suitable for 16+ years. Contains scenes and language most people may find disturbing.
