Stefanie Powers and Richard Johnson to star in On Golden Pond
Hollywood stars Stefanie Powers and Richard Johnson (RSC and National Theatre leading man and a national treasure) have been announced for the lead roles in the production of On Golden Pond coming to the Mercury Theatre from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 January 2012.
They will be joined by Elizabeth Carling, best known from her regular roles in Boon, Goodnight Sweetheart and Casualty.
Middle Ground Theatre Company presents this timeless and endearing love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are joined by their daughter and her fiancée, who leave their teenage son with Norman and Ethel while they travel to Europe.
A deeply moving and touching exploration of the relationship between the elderly couple, their daughter and their grandson follows. As the summer wanes, there is a realisation is that time is against them. But the years have been good, and perhaps there is another summer on Golden Pond still to enjoy…
