Booking Information

Please see our How To Book page for full ticket information. Please inform us when booking if you require a wheelchair space, will be bringing an assistance dog with you to the show or will be using our infra-red hearing system (for hearing enhancement for people with or without hear aids) during the show.

We do offer disability concessions. These vary from show to show, so please call Ticket Sales on 01206 573948 or check our website when booking.

If you require a companion / carer to attend a show, we are happy to provide a companion / carer ticket at a reduced rate.

Assisted Listening System

We offer the Assisted Listening system (hearing enhancement) for customers with or without hearing aids. These can be booked online, over the phone or in person at the Ticket Sales Desk. The Assisted Listening system is available in the Main Theatre and Studio Theatre.

Assisted Listening Headsets can be picked up free of charge from the Cloakroom in the Main Foyer prior to the show.

 

CAPTIONING

DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO HEAR WHAT IS BEING SAID?

Captioning converts the spoken word, songs and sound effects in to text on a caption unit on the stage. Please let us know of any requirements you or anyone in your party may have. We will do all we can to make your visit as enjoyable and as straightforward as possible.

AUDIO DESCRIPTION

DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ACTION?

Audio Description is a live commentary on the visual elements of a production. Receivers and headsets for hearing enhancement and audio description services need to be booked in advance when purchasing your tickets. Please contact us for further information.

Touch Tours:

The free tour will take you onto the set of one of our shows. During the tour, the audio describer will guide you through the important costumes, set and props used during the performance.

Please mention if you would like to attend the touch tour when booking your tickets for the Audio Described performance.

Touch Tours must be booked in advance.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES

Relaxed Performances are specifically designed to welcome people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, learning disability, sensory and communication disorders and Dementia into theatres to give those who otherwise might feel excluded, the chance to experience live theatre. Our social stories give you an idea of what it will be like to visit the Mercury Theatre. They show you what the building looks like, and what you might see when you come in. Where is the accessible toilet?

The accessible toilet is located on the ground floor, opposite the lift. The toilet is clearly signed.

How can I request to use the Assisted Listening System and do I need to pay?

We have changed our Infra-red system to a brand new Assisted Listening system. We offer the Assisted Listening system (hearing enhancement) for customers with or without hearing aids. Can I bring my Assistance dog to the theatre and do I need to pay?

We welcome Assistance Dogs at all performances for no additional charge. Please inform us when booking.

Does your box office have induction loop?

Yes, we have a portable loop system on the counter that can be used with your hearing aid using the T setting. Please inform the staff that you wish to use the loop system.

I’m a wheelchair user, where is the best place to sit/ book my seat?

For customers using wheelchairs, we provide wheelchair spaces, with accompanying seating for a carer or companion. These can now be found in our newly built Accessible Viewing Areas.

Plus, for the first time ever, it is now possible to book wheelchair spaces and companion seats online. We’ll need to enable this facility on your account – call us on 01206 573948 to set this up. Please note there may be some circumstances where it is best to call our friendly Ticket Sales team:

  • If you need to book additional seats for friends/family close to the wheelchair user
  • If you are booking more than one wheelchair user space and therefore require more than one companion/carer seat
  • If you want to book a companion/carer seat for more than one show

How easy is it to get into the auditorium? Do you have a lift? 

We do have a lift at the theatre, which is available to wheelchair users and those customers who have trouble climbing stairs. If you are likely to need the lift, please arrive at the theatre in plenty of time as the lift can get busy just before a show. You can find the lift to the right hand side of our Main Foyer.

Do you have disabled parking?

We have a small amount of disabled parking outside the front of the theatre. This is available to blue badge holders on a first come first served basis. If you have any trouble finding the theatre, take a look at our How To Find Us page.

Are there discounts for carers?

Yes – prices vary depending on the show.

Is the restaurant and bar suitable for pushchairs/babies?

Yes, we are a family friendly building. We have a lift that accesses all floors and baby changing facilities in the disabled toilet. There are also high chairs available restaurant.
