Mercury Theatre - Main Theatre

In the General Election of 2017, national attention will be paid to Colchester – the Guardian have called the Colchester constituency a “battleground seat”. The Mercury’s Ask The Candidates election hustings event returns to give you a chance to put your question to the candidates competing for your vote.

Will Quince won Colchester for the Conservatives two years ago, and now Sir Bob Russell is attempting to take the seat back – returning to Parliament as the town’s Lib Dem representative.  Or could it be one of the other parties, or an independent candidate, who will secure your vote this time?

Confirmed candidates attending the hustings so far:

Mark Goacher – Green party
Robin Rennie – Christian Peoples Alliance
Sir Bob Russell – Liberal Democrat party
Will Quince – Conservative party
Cllr Tim Young – Labour party

Tickets £2.50

The Mercury Theatre is a charity, and each hustings ticket is a contribution to Mercury Rising, the campaign to secure the future of the theatre for future generations – thank you! Your ticket includes a complimentary tea or coffee on arrival.

The Mercury Theatre’s Bar will be open from 45 minutes before the event, and after the event.

Food @ The Mercury will not be open on this evening.
