The Ask The Candidates hustings event gives voters the chance to put their questions to representatives from each of the political parties standing in the local elections in Colchester this May.

The big debate will take place on Tuesday 23 April – and with no other hustings yet announced, it could be the first time the candidates for Colchester publicly debate this time round.

The chair for the evening will be Paul Whiteley, Professor of Government from Essex University.

The party representatives will be:
Tim Young – Labour
Martin Goss – Liberal Democrats
Mark Goacher – Green Party
Darius Laws – Conservative Party

Tickets are free, but seats must be booked in advance.

Questions should be submitted at the time of booking and the Chair will pick a selection to ask on the night. If booking online please submit your questions to with the subject line, ‘Ask The Candidates: Hustings Question’
