LATES – Blackout (Mar)
Get ready, because Blackout is back and ready to take over the Mercury Theatre!
Join us for a transformative poetry workshop, led by talented local creative, Gail Egbeson and designed to explore themes of Black identity, heritage, and lived experiences.
Participants will be guided through a series of writing prompts, each crafted to spark deep reflection and creativity. These prompts will be paired with thought-provoking Black culture-inspired photographs, some from past events and others from more recent moments, offering fresh inspiration to fuel your writing.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have crafted at least one poem, which will be featured in a collective anthology and showcased alongside visual art at our LATES – Blackout exhibition in June. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your voice and contribute to a meaningful celebration of Black culture.
We will be hosting another Blackout event on Thu 5 Jun, which will include the performances of the results of the workshop.
