You shall go to the outdoor ball of the year, presented by Popcorn Movies

Enjoy this unique outdoor Christmas viewing of the charming pantomime Cinderella, filmed in front of the Mercury live audience of over 800 people in 2019! After a record-breaking production last Christmas, the Mercury panto has been brought back for you to enjoy as a drive-in movie experience with Popcorn Movies.

You are cordially invited to the ball of the year with Cinderella, the ultimate rags-to-riches tale. Complete with everyone’s favourite festive duo, Antony Stuart-Hicks and Dale Superville – winners of the Best Ugly Sisters at the 2020 Great British Pantomime Awards!

Poor Cinderella spends her days cleaning, cooking and tidying for the cruel Baroness and her rotten daughters. That is until one day the Prince decides to host an extravagant ball to find his princess and insists that every eligible lady should attend.  But little does Cinderella know, life is about to turn itself upside down and an exciting adventure awaits.

Will Cinderella escape her daily chores? Will the Prince find his happy ever after? Will the Sisters ever stop their incessant whining? Will you stay in the car or venture out? Cinderella is the perfect festive fix for the whole family to enjoy and will leave you singing all the way home!

Your booking will support the freelancers whose work you will see onscreen, those working tirelessly behind the scenes and the future of the Mercury Theatre. Freelancers are the lifeblood of our productions and collaborations and we are grateful that your generous support will offer them, and the theatre, hope for the year ahead.

The Drive-in Movie Experience

Set in an idyllic countryside location just off the A12, J29 at the Ardleigh Crown Interchange. The drive-in offers a nostalgic feel, especially for Christmas.

Popcorn Movies welcome you to a festoon lit field with vendors, hot chocolates, fresh warm doughnuts, mulled wine, however, you are free to bring your own goodies and snacks too.

Bring blankets and cushions for the car, if the weather is good and you’re brave enough, then camping chairs, coats, hats and wellies with blankets is a very cosy way to enjoy the drive in screening, and is a familiar sight at our events!

Once settled (or snuggled) relax and enjoy the pantomime on our 100sq m LED screen, the sound is transmitted to your in car FM radio, we also have speakers dotted around the field for those that want to watch with the elements.

Your viewing bay is a space of 6×5 m offering 30sqm of space per family/bubble, including the car. Accessible parking is available.
