Clybourne Park
Hailed as ‘shockingly entertaining’ and ‘appallingly funny’, Bruce Norris’ hilarious satire Clybourne Park explores the ever contentious themes of race and property ownership.
In 1959 Chicago, Russ and Bev are selling their desirable two-bed at a knock-down price. The sale creates ripples of discontent amongst the cosy white urbanites of Clybourne Park when the new owners turn out to be a black family.
Fast forward to 2009 and the same property is being bought by Lindsey and Steve whose plans to raze the house and start again is met with a similar response. Are the issues beneath the floorboards actually the same fifty years on?
Acclaimed by critics and audiences alike since its debut on Broadway in 2009, Clybourne Park has been awarded Best Play at the Olivier Awards, the Evening Standard Best Play Award, the South Bank Sky Arts Theatre Award and Critics’ Circle Best Play Award.
WE’RE GOING ON TOUR IN 2016!
