Commemoration – Remembering and Celebrating the Loves, Lives and Losses of the Last Two Years

Commemoration – Remembering and Celebrating the Loves, Lives and Losses of the Last Two Years aims to bring people together to remember those who passed away during the pandemic and thank all those who helped support those suffering from Covid and the families who lost loved ones.

Presented by BBC Essex hosts Sonia Watson and Ben Fryer, the concert will see Colchester favourites take to the stage including British Army Band, Funky Voices Choir, Military Wives Choir and Mercury Young Company.

The concert will also feature music, singing, poetry and talks from Anne Odeke (Princess Essex at Mercury), Hugh Maynard (Sweeney Todd at Mercury, The Lion King), Craig Mather (Pieces of String at Mercury, Les Miserables), Rosie Heath (Mamma Mia, Beautiful – The Musical) and Essex Young Musician of the Year Madeline Robinson. We’ll also hear from Anthony Roberts (Colchester Arts Centre), Peter Dutch (Anti Loo Roll Brigade), the Bishop of Colchester and the Mayor of Colchester.

Produced by the Mercury in partnership with Colchester Borough Council, BBC Essex and local community and faith organisations. The event will be livestreamed to homes, community and faith centres across Colchester and beyond.

The event is sponsored by the Hunnaball Family Funeral Group.
