Educating Rita
“God, what’s it like to be free?”
Certain that she can do more than a shampoo and set, hairdresser Rita sets out in search of adventure and the education she never got at school.
Fizzing with ambition, Rita explodes into the life of middle-of-the-road, middle-aged, middle-class Open University tutor, Frank. Will this “appalling teacher of appalling students” be able to set her on the road to success? What happens next changes Rita’s life forever.
As Frank slides into the warm embrace of his whiskey bottle, it looks like Rita has a few lessons to teach her professor too.
Heart-warming and hilarious, Educating Rita is one of the great comic stories of the past four decades. Originally commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the show ran in the West End and was followed by a BAFTA award-winning film starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters.
Put down your curling tongs and brace yourself for Hurricane Rita – it’s time for your next tutorial!
