God of Carnage
Whatever happens on the playground must be settled with decorum … and a little slice of clafoutis.
GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza – translated by Christopher Hampton & present by Gallery Players.
Two sets of parents meet up to discuss a physical altercation between their children. Will the grown-ups have a calm and civilised discussion or will it descend into parental anarchy, tantrums and name calling resulting into a crescendo of chaos?
Written by Yasmina Reza God of Carnage is a beautifully written comedy of bad manners that will make you laugh out loud and cringe in equal measure.
God of Carnage was first performed in French in 2006, and Christopher Hampton’s translation was a smash hit in the West End and Broadway, winning amongst many awards the 2008 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy starring Ralph Fiennes and Tasmin Greig. It was then made in to a film in 2011, called Carnage, starring Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly.
