I Want My Hat Back – South Essex
A stunning adaptation of the best-selling, multiple award-winning picture book debut of Jon Klassen
I WANT MY HAT BACK by Jon Klassen
Book and lyrics by Joel Horwood, music by Arthur Darville
The Mercury Theatre’s new touring theatre piece for primary schools is a musical play adapted from Canadian author and illustrator Jon Klassen for Key Stages 1 and 2.
Pupils will meet a range of woodland animal characters whilst being immersed in a humorous morality tale dealing with themes of loss, honesty and consequences.
The bear’s hat is gone, and he wants it back. Patiently and politely, he asks the animals he comes across, one by one, whether they have seen it? Just as the bear begins to give up, he is asked a simple question that sparks the bear’s memory and renews his search… ending with a hilariously gruesome twist!
The show is designed to play in school halls to an audience of up to three classes. It runs for 60 minutes and features a cast of two actors and one musician.
