Lantern Project 2025

Join us for this free family family-friendly workshop, where you will be guided through the process of making a beautiful willow lantern with professional artist and maker, Katie Kennedy.

After the workshop, you will be able to take your new creation home to enjoy. However, we would also like all workshop participants to join us on Sat 22 Nov at 5.30pm to be part of the Colchester Christmas light switch on!

Meeting at the Mercury at 5pm, you will then carry your handmade lantern down Colchester High Street alongside the rest of our procession performers, ending at Firstsite. More information about this event will be shared at the end of the workshop.

Important information

Please note that participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and you will need to book a place for them if this is the case. You can book your Lantern Project 2025 – Accompanying Adult (Not Making Lantern) place here. Under 18s will also need to be accompanied by an adult for the parade, should they wish to be involved.
