Romeo and Juliet
The Mercury Young Company transport you to fair Verona for an atmospheric performance of Shakespeare’s tragic tale of star-crossed lovers.
It’s love at first sight when teenagers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet first spot each other across a crowded room. There’s just one problem: their families are sworn enemies. Secret meetings soon lead to a forbidden marriage, but these young lovers are forced to grow up quickly when the family feud threatens to overpower their love.
“MY ONLY LOVE SPRUNG FROM MY ONLY HATE”
Performed in St. Martin’s Church in central Colchester, the story unfolds around you in this new and abridged version of Shakespeare’s most popular play.
Romeo & Juliet is directed by Filiz Ozcan, the Mercury’s Participation & Young People’s Director (Animal Farm, Blackout).
