Sun will rise – Blossome AGM

A person in a blue top, black shorts, gloves, and a swim cap stands at the shoreline during sunrise, holding an orange inflatable float. The sea is calm with gentle waves, and the sky is lit in soft orange and pink hues. Overlaid text reads: “Sun Will Rise – A Packing Shed Theatre production in collaboration with the Blossom Community,” along with five-star reviews and quotes describing the show as moving and hopeful.

Prepare to embark on an emotional journey that will stir your heart and elevate your spirit. This transformative theatre performance delves deeply into the themes of hope, surrender, and resilience – all through the eyes of a woman confronting the profound effects of her partner’s alcohol misuse.

Set against the backdrop of a “Blossome Sunrise Dip” in the invigorating North Sea, the poignant narrative unfolds when the woman joins a group of individuals grappling with similar challenges. This pivotal moment transcends mere storytelling; it serves as a powerful metaphor for healing, connection, and the indomitable human spirit.

This play courageously brings to light the often-hidden struggles faced by families affected by substance misuse. It reveals the deep suffering and isolating shame that accompany such experiences, while also challenging the stigma that can prevent access to vital support. By sharing this inspiring story, the audience is invited to step into the shoes of those affected, fostering empathy and understanding, and ultimately encouraging a collective confrontation of these societal barriers.

This project is a profound collaboration between Packing Shed Theatre Company and Blossome CIC, merging artistic brilliance with authentic community voices. By including Blossome community members who have lived experience in the script development, the narrative is guaranteed to resonate powerfully with those touched by the hardships of addiction.

Blossome is a compassionate self-care community, a non judgemental brave space, for individuals affected by someone else’s substance misuse or any addiction. In a trauma-informed environment, people can find understanding and emotional support, while learning and practising self-care and self-compassion together, for their own wellbeing. It is Blossome’s mission to help people resource themselves, heal themselves and in doing so, end the generational cycles of addiction in families with self-care and self-compassion. If you are affected by this story, please reach out to Blossome.
