The Mayor of Colchester’s Variety Show 2026
Starring celebrity magician and Vice President of the Magic Circle, Michael J. Fitch, The Mayor’s Variety Show will bring together some of the most talented performers in Colchester, to compete for a top prize, chosen by the Mayor.
We are delighted to share news on the main acts who will perform at the Mayor of Colchester’s Variety Show:
- The Big Sing Choir, famous for its performance on Britain’s Got Talent, will sing a number of inspiring songs at the event
- The Crunchy Frog Players, who performed recently at the Headgate Theatre and at the Colchester Fringe Festival, will perform their humorous Monty Python style comedy sketches during the show. Plus, do not be surprised if they pop up at different stages throughout the night. Featuring Anthony Roberts, Tim Young, Nicola Goodchild, Darren Gooding and Lisa Wakely
- Pat Smith, Colchester’s Comedian of the Year, who is also a TikTok sensation, with over 110,000 followers, will deliver some of his favourite jokes on the night
- The Mercury Theatre Adult Dance Group, will perform a number of dances to famous musicals on the night
- One of Colchester’s most exciting young singers and one of its most popular bands – Josef Harley and the band Heartlake – will perform a number of their original songs together on the night
- The Shuff and Byng team will perform a special show that will explore the lives, legacies and compelling material of early drag queens Douglas Byng and Mrs Shufflewick – aka Rex Jameson, who inspired many other legendary artists, such as Lily Savage
- Some of the stars from the Guys and Dolls show, who were recently involved in a successful run at the Mercury Theatre, will be back to perform a couple of numbers from this brilliant show
- Team Kinetix, which were semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent, will perform a number of parkour routines on the night
- Harriet Cree, who recently featured on Look East for spontaneously singing a number of songs on one of the last trains from London towards Norwich, will perform some of her original music on the night
- Powerful singer Colette Van Sertima, who had a top 25 in the charts with “Hold That Sucker Down” will debut a few of her new singles on the night
