Pam Ayres voices her support for Mercury Rising

A note from Pam Ayres

I’ve been coming to Colchester and to perform at the Mercury Theatre for over 20 years and you have always made me feel so very welcome. I always look forward to visiting Colchester; I have many happy memories and am looking forward to coming back soon.

When I was asked if I would help to support the Mercury’s biggest ever fundraising campaign, I was very pleased to agree, and I feel very proud and confident to have become a Patron for the Theatre and their project to transform the building, Mercury Rising.

In a few years’ time, this already lovely theatre will – we hope – be transformed into a very modern, spacious and fully-equipped home for the arts – a place for all generations to have fun, learn new skills and develop their talents. The foyer will be bigger and brighter, there will be a lovely new all-day café, and hooray, more loos for all!

Your theatre has already received funding from Arts Council England, Essex County Council and Colchester Borough Council, but most importantly, it is only through the support, understanding and kind donations from local people such as you that this project will happen.

We still need to raise £1.7million to be able to complete all the changes and improvements. If you would like to help towards making the Mercury Theatre a fantastic place for everyone to enjoy, please make a donation.

Your generosity is so important and greatly appreciated by all of us working together to create the most fantastic theatre, and to safeguard its future for the whole community.

Best wishes,
Pam Ayres

PS. I will be returning to the Mercury Theatre to perform my show on Sunday 25 June, when all proceeds will go towards the Mercury Rising fundraising appeal. Tickets will go on sale in March – please come along!
