KS1 and KS2 teachers, history or drama coordinators are invited to our March CPD event, Resorting to the Coast.

If you’re teaching  Essex local history, history of the British seaside and entertainments and would like to practice story making and drama techniques, please book your free place.

Using story telling as a starting point we will delve into the extraordinary history of the Tendring Coastline.  With tales of one legged high divers, killer whales and bathing elephants, you will never look at Clacton, Walton, Frinton, Harwich and Jaywick in the same light again!

This session will give you the background to the history of these five Essex seaside towns as well as having fun with story making and drama techniques.  We are also launching KS2 teaching resources which include a range of archive images to use in the classroom, and our travelling theatre resource box which will be available to borrow from the summer term.

This free event takes place on Thursday 28 March 2019, 4.30 – 6pm (join us from 4pm for afternoon tea and seaside snacks) at Mercury Theatre Make It Space, Abbey Field Centre, Circular Road South, Colchester, Essex, CO2 7UW.  See www.mercurytheatre.co.uk/visit/abbey-field-centre  for directions and transport links.  There is parking at the Make It Space.
