We are expanding to new venues across Essex!

With thanks to funding from the National Lottery and Government, and in partnership with Essex Youth Service, we are excited to announce our brand-new Mercury Young Company sessions for young people aged 13-17 who have never attended MYC before!

Free spaces are available first come first served for brand new sessions based at the Youth Service hubs in Clacton, Basildon and Colchester.

Young people involved in our Mercury Young Company sessions will receive weekly practical workshops from our Mercury teaching artists, in which they will develop:

• Confidence
• Working in a team/ ensemble
• Voice
• Movement
• Creating a character
• Scene work
• Improvisation skills

For our Colchester group, weekly sessions from Thu 6 June 2024 until Thu 26 Mar 2026, 5-7pm and take place at Stanway Youth Centre (CO3 0PZ). Sessions take place during term time and half terms; however, sessions will stop for the Summer, Christmas and Easter holidays.

Young people will receive a free space in the group from June 2024 until the end of March 2026 but must be a minimum of 13 years of age, or a maximum of 18 years of age during this time period.

As all places are fully funded, any young person booked on to the group has the option of a place through to March 2026. We want to make sure the sessions are accessible and welcoming so whilst we think the best outcomes will come from long term engagement, we understand life can get in the way! If places are available we encourage young people to join at any point in the term, and please use the sign-up form below to register and ask for more information if required.
