Are you ready to take your passion for culture and creativity to the next level? The Colchester Young Cultural Ambassadors 12-month programme is the perfect opportunity for young people aged 16-21 to develop essential skills and gain hands-on experience in the arts, culture, and community sector. With the support of some of Colchester’s most iconic cultural venues and organisations, this exciting initiative will open doors to a world of career possibilities.
Learn about the roles these institutions play in the community and collaborate with fellow ambassadors to brainstorm what you hope to achieve throughout the programme and how you plan to advocate and share about the work that all of these organisations do.
You’ll take part in 5 Masterclass Sessions, each focusing on vital skills that will set you apart in the arts and culture industry:
- Producing & Event Management – understanding the logistics behind successful community events.
- Community Engagement – connecting with young people and local groups.
- Administration – mastering spreadsheets, budgets and planning.
- Marketing – promoting cultural initiatives effectively.
- Selling Yourself to Employers – crafting CVs and applications that stand out.
In addition, you’ll gain invaluable work experience with one of the partner organisations for one week. You’ll also have the chance to support major events like the Rice and Spice Festival and Family Fun Days, gaining hands-on experiences and networking opportunities.
As part of the programme, you’ll attend 6 meetings per year, where you’ll provide feedback and help shape the future of youth-focused arts programming across all of the partner organisations.
Don’t miss your chance to become part of a dynamic, creative community and kickstart your career in the arts! Apply now to become a Colchester Young Cultural Ambassador!
