How to find the Mercury Theatre

Our theatre is a five-minute walk from Colchester’s bustling Town Centre with great local bus links and within walking distance of both Colchester North and Colchester Town station.

Cycling?

There are several bike stands to safely store your bike outside the theatre. Further cycle parking can be found outside St Mary’s car park and outside Debenhams in Culver Street West.

You can download the Colchester Cycle map from the Cycle Colchester website, where you can also find useful information to help and support cyclists. You can also hire bikes from Colchester station.

Travelling by Bus?

You can get to us using any of the buses to the town centre – visit Traveline South East for up-to-the-minute bus times, or you can visit the Colchester Travel Plan Club website for more information.

For Park and Ride information visit the Colchester Park and Ride Website.

Our closest bus stop is on Head Street (outside the Odeon Cinema) – postcode: CO1 1NH.

Catching the Train?

We are only an hour from Liverpool Street railway station by train. There are trains every hour to and from London from Colchester North Station; book your ticket online at www.thetrainline.com.

Taxis are readily available from outside the station, or you can book a taxi with PDQ Cars (01206 540540).

Walking from the station takes around 20 minutes, or you can hire a bike. Find out more about bike hires at you-well.co.uk.

Driving?

Our nearest car park is St Mary’s car park (CO3 3AA).

Please allow plenty of time to find a space as the car park does get busy at peak times. St Mary’s Car Park will be closing its entrance at 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights for the foreseeable future. The car park is still open and cars already parked there can use the exit, they are only planning on stopping new cars coming in after 10pm. The entrance lane will be reopened at 5am the following mornings.

Car Share

Could you car share with friends or relatives to help with traffic problems? Join the LoveurcarColchester car share bay scheme for FREE, then you can park in preferential bays in town centre car parks including St Mary’s. You will still have to pay but you will be able to park in a wider space nearer the exit and share the parking charge and fuel with your fellow car sharers. Or park in the LoveurcarColchester bays at Colchester Station for free! (Maximum stay eight hours) then walk into town.

If you would like to search for a car share you can use the Essex Lift Share website.
