The ‘Untold Stories’ Festival will give schools the opportunity to perform new, devised work on the main stage at the Mercury Theatre. The festival will showcase the work of 12 schools from East Anglia.
Theme: This year the Mercury Theatre’s Make It team welcome schools to devise performances inspired by either their students or other people’s hidden tales, secret histories or buried memories. Please see resource sheet for additional ideas.
Cost: £120 (or a £100 if you are or become a Teachers’ Network member).
Length of performances: Performances should be no longer than 10 minutes per group.
Groups: A school can only bring along 1 group with a maximum of 30 students. This is to ensure that we can involve as many schools as possible.
Content: The performance piece can be either dance, drama, music or it can incorporate all three disciplines. One of our practitioners will come and run an exploratory workshop with your students at the start of your devising process and a Director will visit you and your group to offer support and advice in the autumn term.
Performance: On the day of the performance, you will be expected to attend a technical rehearsal. Your group will be allocated a time slot to come and rehearse on the main stage with a technician.
Tickets: Tickets for the show are available through our website and Box Office (01206 573948)
