Mercury Creative Entrepreneurs Showcase

Seven of the participants of the Mercury Creative Entrepreneurs programme will be showcasing their work at the Abbey Field Centre on Thursday 5th March 2020, at 7pm.

Join us for an evening of scratch performances, an immersive musical experience and visual arts exhibitions.

Oliver Harrington - Found in Translation Theatre

Oliver Harrington, Co-founder and Artistic Director of Found in Translation Theatre, will present an excerpt of Cassandra, a subversive adaptation of Aeschylus’ Agamemnon, by Rose Goodbody.

Found In Translation Theatre are a company based in Colchester that aims to empower or educate audiences using adaptation and inspiration from our past. Last month FIT Theatre completed a residency at the Blue Elephant Theatre (Camberwell) with a rehearsed reading of I Wanted to Ask, a work-in-progress developed during the residency. They also deliver Outreach projects including schools workshops and collaborations with educational charities. Outside of FIT Theatre, Ollie works as a youth theatre practitioner for the Mercury Theatre.

Eilish Mullane - Uproar Theatre

Eilish Mullane  from Uproar Theatre will present her piece ‘Pit’.

Eilish Mullane is a playwright and co-Artistic Director of Uproar Theatre Ltd. She graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing.

She has been shortlisted for the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Writing and Broken Silence’s Voices From Home, as well as reaching the top 15% of the BBC Writers Room Applications.

Her work has been produced as part of events by HACK Theatre, Glass Splinters and Aktualise.

Michael Parker and Kate Millner - At Swefn's Edge

Michael Parker & Kate Millner invite you enjoy an immerse musical experience of At Swefn’s Edge.

At Swefn’s Edge create cinematic dreamscapes in sound, music and
spoken word.

Michael and Kate, often collaborating with other musicians, experiment with different musical genres and styles. Often
the music is interlaced with improvised vocals, field recordings, words,
stories and poetry.

Some pieces evolve to provoke a dark auditory experience- some almost comedic, some meditative and relaxing and some provoke a journey into the surreal imagination of the listener.

Richard Bland - Collection of Classic Scenes

Richard Bland (@RichardConradpb) will present a Collection of Classic Scenes, including ‘A Doll’s House’ by Henrik Ibsen, ‘Hamlet’ by William Shakespeare and ‘Of Mice and Men’ by John Steinbeck.

Richard is the former Artistic Director of Protocol Theatre and is starting up a new professional theatre company dedicated to producing stories actors love to perform and audiences love to see. Plays that demonstrate universality, quality and longevity.

 

 

 

Hannah Aria - Artist

The very talented Hannah Aria will be recording the attendee’s reactions for one of her piece Wasting Away. She will then use people’s interactions as part of her end of residency exhibition in July at Quay Place, in Ipswich.

Hannah is a passionate creative with a heart for social justice. She is a qualified Youth Worker who has studied Social Work and Arts Practice at UOS. In August 2018, Hannah officially ‘emerged’ as a professional Artist, experimenting with the medium of resin and 3D design and exhbiting extensively. Hannah has utilised her life experiences to engage in social action which fuels her creative drive to promote positive change in a variety of contexts. she hopes to combine visual arts with performance to ‘inspire the soul and awaken the senses’.

 

Lisa Warnock - Flux Dance Collective

Lisa Warnock will be introducing/promoting the amazing work that she does with Flux Dance Collective.
