Aspire: Activities for Young People with Disabilities

We offer a range of activities for young people with learning disabilities and additional needs to explore their creativity.

Thanks to funding from Action for Children, the Mercury Theatre is currently the largest single provider of out-of-school activities for young people with disabilities in the North East Essex region.

Our ‘Aspire’ series of Youth Theatres and Workshops will help young people explore their creativity, meet new friends, build confidence, and develop communication and social interaction skills. Sessions are taught by a range of arts professionals with experience of working with young people with additional needs.

Participants that require one-to-one care will need to be accompanied by their parent/guardian or carer.

We provide Social Stories for all of our Aspire Youth Theatres and workshops and sessions are held in accessible spaces. Click here for an example of our Social Stories.

We also host a range of accessible performances for our Made in Colchester shows. Further information can be found on our Access page.

If you would like further information about any of our Youth Theatres or workshops contact us at: makeit@mercurytheatre.co.uk or phone 01206 573948
