We’re delighted to launch a creative writing competition for young people to coincide with our Mercury Production of Alice in Wonderland!
We’re asking all budding young wordsmiths aged 7-11 to write a short piece describing what wonderland would be like for them, the more inventive – the better! You can submit your entry (max 250 words) by filling in our form at the link below. If you’d prefer to record a video (max 2mins), rather than write your entry, that’s fine too, please just email us a link to [email protected].

We will select one winner who will receive a VIP experience at the Mercury Wonderland including:
4 x tickets to our immersive Mad Hatter’s family tea party*
4 x tickets to see our Mercury Production, Alice in Wonderland
4 x ice cream vouchers
1 x Alice in Wonderland programme, signed by our cast
1 x copy of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland book (courtesy of Red Lion Books)
Competition Rules
*The Mad Hatter’s Family Tea Party takes place at various times on Sat 30 Jul, if the winner can’t attend we’ll provide vouchers for Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea instead
- Entries close at 23:59 on Sun 10 Jul, all entrants will be contacted and a winner announced on Fri 15 Jul.
- Entrants must be aged between 7 and 11 by Sun 15 Jul to enter.
- Entries must be the entrants own work. If submitting a piece of writing it can be no longer than 250 words, if they are submitting a video it cannot be over 2 minutes in length.
- When entering the competition we’ll ask for parent/guardian’s contact details, these will be stored only to contact you regarding the competition.
- By entering the competition you consent that you are happy for the Mercury to share your young person’s work on their website and potentially as a display in the building.
- Prizes are non-transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash value. The prize package includes: 4 x tickets to any performance of our Mercury Production, Alice in Wonderland (subject to availability), 4 x tickets to our Mad Hatter’s Family Tea Party on Sat 30 Jul, 4 x ice cream vouchers, 1 x Alice in Wonderland programme signed by our cast, 1 x copy of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland courtesy of Red Lion Books.
