The Main Theatre
Our main theatre seats up to 530 people. The auditorium is crescent shaped and features tiered seating which gives a great view from all parts of the house.
We have accessible viewing areas on each side of the auditorium meaning we can seat up to six wheelchairs at each performance.
Backstage we have four single person dressing rooms, 6 three person dressing rooms, an accessible changing room, laundry facilities, private toilets, and a green room.
The Studio Theatre
Our studio theatre seats up to 98 people in tiered seating and has room for two wheelchairs at each show. The Mercury studio is home to new writing from emerging local artists and fresh new talent, as well as more intimate touring productions and children’s shows.
This adaptable space can also be hired for parties, events and functions.
Backstage we have two dressing rooms allocated solely for the Studio theatre.
The Bar
We have two bars, one on each floor, and we serve a range of drinks and snacks for you to enjoy during your visit. The seating is adaptable and can be switched up to cater for a range of events including parties, quizzes, open mics, cabaret nights and more! Our upstairs bar (sponsored by GFM) can also be hired as a luxury private area for you and your VIP guests to enjoy drinks before a dazzling evening’s entertainment in our theatre.
The Café
Our all day café serves a wide range of drinks, nibbles and quick bites with ingredients sourced from the very best local suppliers. A brilliant space to hire for a coffee morning or to catch up on some emails with a cuppa before venturing into the bustling Colchester high street. Oh – and the WiFi is free!
The Rehearsal Room
Our double height rehearsal room features rubberised Harlequin flooring, full length mirrors and can comfortably fit 40 people in the 11.7m x 15.4m space. Perfect for dance or exercise classes, drama or choir rehearsals and theatrical workshops.
The Dance Studio
Our all new dance studio features a fully-sprung dance floor, full length mirrors and fits 40 people in the 10.4m x 11.7m space. Just like our rehearsal room – the studio can be hired for dance or fitness activities, rehearsals and a range of workshops.
The Creative Engagement Studio
Home to the Mercury Young Company our Creative Engagement Studio is a safe space that fits 40 people in the 10.8m x 8.1m studio. It’s an ideal space for children’s parties, workshops and rehearsals.
