These workshops will be an introduction to the professional world of DJ’ing.

Young people will be shown how to use a set of Pioneer turntables, and some basic techniques such as transitions, using effects and other  functions such as Slip loops. The sessions will be very much hands-on with the equipment, with Alex/Shy Cookie tutoring and supporting students to do their own mixing and experimentation with the decks once they are familiar with the basic functions and techniques presented to them. They will be 45 minutes long and parents don’t have to wait on site.

The sessions will be taught by Shy Cookie, the hit making producer/DJ/Independent music professional behind acts such as DJ Luck and MC Neat among others, and more recently with his own project: The House & Garage Orchestra – the first and most successful orchestra to play dance music (est. 2014) with which he has completed 3 sold out UK tours. The most recent tour last year ended with a sold out show @O2 Brixton Academy.

Shy Cookie has been in the music industry for 30 years, and along with production and his orchestra concerts continues to DJ at events such as The Brit Award after party, various festivals and events around the UK and up until recently Flex FM (which he reluctantly left due to his busy schedule).

This event is supported by Essex Music Services and Colchester County Council.
