Our Café Bar is open!
Our bar is open Tue-Sat from 10am until late.
The Mercury Kitchen is open for food 11am-2:30pm and in the evening when there is a performance.
On Sundays, we’re open when there is a performance.
We offer a warm friendly welcome to everyone – whether you’re coming in to book tickets, watch a show or visiting the town, our accessible café bar caters for all. We serve a wide selection of cakes, pastries, snacks and light meals, alongside a range of teas, coffees, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.
The kitchen is closed on evenings without performances, please check with us beforehand if you are not sure. We still have a range of jacket potatoes, paninis and cakes when the kitchen is closed.
Where possible, our ingredients are sourced locally, our coffee is Fairtrade and our takeaway cups are recyclable.
Our refurbishment has enabled us to offer seating on the outdoor piazza, and you can enjoy a cuppa in the gorgeous and historic surroundings that Balkerne Gate has to offer.
Oh, and before we forget – our WiFi is free! Great for informal meetings and coffee shop working!

Reservations
We are unable to take table reservations for the Café Bar, except for the following reasons:
- Your party is 8 people or more
- A member (or members) of your party have any access needs
- You have pre-ordered your food alongside a ticket purchase to one of our shows
For large table reservations (8 or more), we require a pre-order and deposit to be collected a week before.
Please call our Box Office (01206 573948) to make a reservation and try to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Come and enjoy a freshly made afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes or a traditional cream tea of scones with jam and cream.
We serve a great range of hot drinks (including speciality teas) and we cater for gluten free and vegan diets upon request too.
We can also take group bookings.
Afternoon and cream teas must be booked in advance.

You can upgrade your experience with different food offers for every show!
Whether it’s a Kids Picnic Box to pair with your child’s visit, a Family Platter for family days out, a Mercury Classic of some traditional hearty meals, or Afternoon Tea and Sharing Bowls to share with friends and family – each show will now give you the option to upgrade your experience and reserve a table in our Café Bar 75 or 90 minutes before the show to enjoy a tasty meal, snacks or treats!
