Mercury Theatre is working alongside Colchester City Council to promote the Future City strategy. As part of the consultation, the Mercury wants to work with Colchester young people in schools and the community to celebrate our new city status from the perspective of young people. As part of The Year of Celebration we will be holding various activities designed to involve young people and ensure their voices are heard.

This Youth takeover will be a chance for families to come to the theatre and celebrate all things ‘Colchester’. Take part in workshops, talk about what you want for your future city, arts and craft and listen to some live music from young people. All events are free and take part at the Mercury Theatre. Everyone is welcome!
