Come sing with us!

Our Community Choir is an evening get-together for adults of all ages with a song in their heart and a spring in their step!

In partnership with Essex Music Service and led by a professional chorus leader the choir will offer participants an opportunity to sing a dynamic and diverse repertoire of songs with regular performances at special events in Colchester, at the Mercury and beyond.

Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just looking to have a great time and make friends through song – our Community Choir welcomes you.

The term is calculated at £8 a session.

Weekly sessions from Thu 20 Apr, 7pm-8.30pm

Jaquie LewisJaquie Lewis – Choir Leader

Jaquie Lewis is an experienced choir leader and has been directing choirs for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and and also taught music in the classroom at secondary school level for many years. Jaquie now works for Essex Music Services and enjoys teaching one to one vocal lessons in local secondary schools, delivering vocal workshops and leading several choirs. Her choirs have performed at Disneyland Paris. Jaquie enjoys amateur dramatics and in recent years has played the parts of Deloris in Sister Act and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes.

She believes that singing in a choir should be accessible to everyone, whether people are accomplished singers or if they have little or no experience. Reading music is not necessary, just a love of singing and being part of a group. Jaquie loves arranging popular songs and adapts parts and harmonies to fit each group that she works with. She has a relaxed, enthusiastic and friendly style and brings out the best in all of the choirs that she works with. She builds confidence and creates a happy, safe and enjoyable singing experience.
