Our 4-day multi-sensory storytelling workshops are not to be missed!

For young people with SEND aged 7-14 and 13-17s, our multi-sensory workshops will get you up on your feet exploring the world around you through drama and dance. The holiday clubs will improve young people’s confidence, storytelling and social skills and end with a sharing for parents, carers and friends to enjoy.

Designed to meet the needs of all participants in a fun, engaging and inclusive environment, this four-day summer school is just £20* per young person! This activity is made possible thanks to funding from Essex Short Breaks.

As part of the club, young people will work towards an Arts Award Discover. Through participating in arts activities and developing their creative and communication skills, young people will fill in their log books each day and will achieve a certificate which will be sent to them by post after the Holiday Club. Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification and Discover is the first step in the Arts Award journey. More information can be found at artsaward.org.uk.

Each day runs from 10.30am-3pm.

Please Note

*Young people must have an Essex Short Breaks Passport Number. If you are currently not registered with Essex Short Breaks, please register here.

Our work at the Mercury is always participant centred and participants are the focus of our decision making, delivery and outlook. Our activities are designed to develop the independence and confidence of the young people involved. Therefore, we would kindly ask that parents and carers are not present in the session so we can support your young person to flourish independently within a safe, creative environment. The only session this excludes is our SEND Party Nights (when a carer/parent ticket has been bought). We are unable to provide 1:1 support or specialist care for young people involved in our activities and we do understand that sometimes a parent/carer presence is unavoidable or required and so we are happy to discuss this on a case-by-case basis. Please do make us aware of this preference when booking. Thank you for your understanding and please do get in contact if you wish to discuss this further.

Accessibility

All of our activities are accessible and inclusive and you are able to inform us of any additional requirements you have when booking or by becoming a member of our Access for All scheme here. Through funding from Essex Short Breaks, we will also have youth assistants on hand to support our MYC groups up to 18 years, plus additional SEND-specific activities such as Move and Groove and Party Nights.
