Get ready to groove with The Instrumentals

A new family show ideal for ages 4+

When Belle is feeling down she slips into her grandfathers basement and discovers his old dusty instruments. But far from being junk, The Instrumentals are pure funk, and they teach Belle to ‘get down’ in a whole new way. Bursting to life with brilliant puppetry and bold music, the Instrumentals is full of love and laughter, about the memories we hold and how we celebrate life.

This is a show for all children with characters, story & inspiration from the African-Caribbean diaspora. It’s full of uplifting original music with soulful sounds and seventies grooves. Combined with innovative puppetry and lots of comedy, this fun musical journey will have audiences dancing in the aisles!

All performances of The Instrumentals are family friendly. This means anyone is free to come and go, make noise as they wish and there will be ear defenders available if required.

Content to consider

This show covers difficult topics such as the loss of a family member

Additional Events

Whilst The Instrumentals is in our Studio (31 May – 4 Jun), Essex Music Service will be hosting an Instrument Zoo in our upstairs bar. This is a free activity where you can drop in between 10.30am – 2pm and offers your little one a chance to try a range of instruments and explore their musical creativity.

Join us on Fri 2 Jun, 12-1pm for The Instrumentals Workshop. A chance for your little one to make their own Instrumentals inspired puppet, led by practitioners from Little Angel Theatre Company. This session is suited for ages 4-8yrs.
