Creative Young Minds of Colchester – Design Competition Open

Colchester Creative Pathways, a new local cultural education partnership is reaching out to the children and young people of Colchester county to design their new logo and give the partnership its brand identity.

The competition is open now to any young person aged 4-19 years old, living or studying in Colchester to enter.

Coordinator, Antony Stuart-Hicks said “We want to see logo ideas that we can use online, on print material, and on dark and light-coloured backgrounds. This can be a drawing, digital image, collage, or anything else that works. Shortlisted entries will be given to Langham based graphic designers, Blank Space, who will use them to create the new logo and branding for Colchester Creative Pathways. This is so exciting! The final logo will become the face of children & young people’s arts and culture right across Colchester county.”

The partnership is founded by Colchester Arts Centre, Firstsite, Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service and Mercury Theatre, all of whom are Arts Council England National Portfolio holders and have been awarded funding via Royal Opera House – Place Partnership Investment. The collective of cultural organisations are committed to improving children and young people’s access to and enjoyment of culture, through teacher CPD, participatory events and workshops both in and outside of the classroom.

Stuart-Hicks added “The Partnership is working in tandem with education institutions to grow our position as a local and county-wide voice for children and young people to advocate, enable, coordinate an ambitious, relevant and sustainable programme of cultural learning. Our purpose is to raise levels of aspiration and achievement, support equality, community cohesion and support children and young people and their families to be happier and healthier. We need to always keep their voices, and the expertise of teachers and education providers to steer us towards the most positive impact and legacy. Our logo design competition is the first step in reaching out and establishing the LCEP’s visibility and starting the collaboration with children and young people.”

Applicants have until 5pm on Monday 26 June 2023 to create designs and deliver them to the Mercury Theatre, and there are lots of prizes to be won on top of having your designs brought to life in the final logo.
