The Mercury Theatre and Ellisons Solicitors are excited to announce their new partnership as Ellisons come on board as the Mercury’s headline Pantomime Sponsors for their 2023 pantomime Sleeping Beauty, which runs from 25 November 2023 – 14 January 2024.

Ellisons, a local firm with roots in Colchester for over 250 years, is supporting the Mercury to deliver their biggest and most dazzling show of the year! With over 30,000 people seeing last year’s panto Beauty & The Beast, this year’s Sleeping Beauty promises to be just as magical for all the family, with tickets selling faster than ever before!

The sponsorship sits at the heart of Ellisons’ commitment to their local community and the firm understands the importance of the arts and culture on community cohesion and people’s wellbeing, as well as the importance of making Colchester and the wider area a great place to live and work.

Guy Longhurst, Managing Partner, Ellisons Solicitors says:

“Like Ellisons, the Mercury is part of Colchester’s history and we are very lucky to have such a leading arts venue on our doorstep. We are committed to supporting local organisations who benefit our community and lives of local residents, so we are very excited to sponsor the delivery of such a fabulous family pantomime as well as work alongside the Mercury in other ways. We can’t wait to see the show!”

The partnership was kicked off earlier this month with a surprise visit to Ellisons’ Colchester Head Office by the Mercury’s returning pantomime duo, Antony Stuart-Hicks (Dame Maris Piper) & Dale Superville (Spud). They toured the office, took over reception and generally caused mischief as they met and chatted to staff.

Steve Mannix, Executive Director, Mercury Theatre says:

“We have always had a great relationship with Ellisons and hosted events and meetings for them in the past, so it is lovely to see our relationship progress and grow organically. We’re very excited to have them join us as Headline Pantomime sponsors for Sleeping Beauty – as a not for profit charity it is vital we gain sponsorship, grants, voluntary income and donations to continue our work both on and off stage. We are so happy to have such a supportive local business community and this partnership with Ellisons is the first time we have had a Headline Panto sponsor in a long while, so we are thrilled to have them on board.”

Sleeping Beauty runs at the Mercury Theatre from Sat 25 Nov – Sun 14 Jan, with tickets starting at just £10. More than 15,000 tickets have already been sold, with Christmas week and 18+ adult shows in January nearly sold out – bookers are advised to secure their seats now to avoid disappointment! Tickets can be booked on the Mercury website here over the phone on 01206 573948 and in person at the Mercury Box Office.
