It’s a Yes! For Our Colchester BID for a further five years

Yes for Our Colchester

Our Colchester Business Improvement District (BID) are pleased to announce that City centre businesses have voted for them to continue their services for a further five years. The recent ballot was successful with a 45% turnout and the Business Improvement District will be able to continue to deliver business support, projects and crucial initiatives for the City centre, as well as being a combined voice for business.

In June 2023 Our Colchester Business Improvement District (BID) launched their 2023-2028 Business Plan detailing their ambitions for the City centre. As per the regulations for a BID all eligible businesses were asked to vote on the future of the BID between 23rd June and 20th July.

BID Manager, Sam Good, says “It has been an honour to support Colchester City centre. During our first five years we faced some serious challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. We worked hard to be a key contact and champion for businesses in the City centre especially when it comes to collaboration with the local authority and also access to national funding pots.

Thank you to all the BID businesses who supported us. We have some wonderful projects still to deliver for 2023 including the Soapbox Rally, Colchester Women in Business and the Christmas Light Switch On.”

We at the Mercury Theatre are proud to work alongside Our Colchester Business Improvement District (BID) too.
