Bucket collection following free annual carol concert raises £1500
Almost 500 people attended the Mercury Theatre’s annual free carol concert yesterday (19 December) and as well as joining in with some timeless favourites, they were treated to an assortment of songs, readings and jokes courtesy of the cast of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and a choir of Mercury staff.
The carol concert is a hugely popular traditional annual fixture. Each year the concert raises money for charity, with the audience invited to make a donation – last year Mercury audiences raised £945 for Parkinson’s UK.
This year’s collection for the Colchester Hospitals Charity Cancer Centre Campaign raised a huge £1500. The campaign exists to build a new cancer treatment centre offering enhanced services alongside the town’s state of the art Radiology centre.
