As a prominent local charity, we are happy to help other charitable and educational causes.
As a well-known and prominent cultural organisation in Colchester, Essex and the Eastern Region, the Mercury Theatre receives an overwhelming number of requests each year to support different causes, from individuals and organisations alike. For this purpose, we have a limited number of prize vouchers to give away. Each of our vouchers can be exchanged by the bearer for two complimentary tickets to any of our amazing Made In Colchester productions, excluding Pantomime and Young Company Productions, and can be used within a year of being issued.
Over course of the last three years, we have given away more than 350 vouchers to local community and schools’ fundraising events, for a total value of over £11,000.
Last year, to help us make the difficult decisions of who to support, we created an electronic system through our website, with different forms for community events and school fundraising.
Community vouchers are allocated on a first come, first served basis, whilst schools vouchers help us to strengthen the relationship we currently have with local schools, and start the conversation with those we are yet to engage with.
Whilst we very much welcome being able to help the fundraising efforts of schools and community organisations locally, closing the theatre for our capital project renovation means that there is only one applicable Made in Colchester production in the next 18 months: Oliver!, in collaboration with Colchester Operatic Society.
We therefore very much regret that we now are not able to issue any further prize vouchers until, at the earliest, August 2020. We look forward to giving them away again, as soon as our capital project is successfully completed and we are ‘back home’.
In the meantime, we are focusing our efforts on raising the final £500,000 of our Mercury Rising Campaign, and hope the local community will help us by organising fundraising events for us. To help us to help you, we have a Community Fundraising Pack with some great ideas!
