We are excited to be offering our amazing facilities for freelancers, those who are working flexibly, creative industries, charities, corporate partners and regular users. With high-speed Wi-Fi, our workspaces are perfect for collaboration, focus and productivity. Located in our main office space, these workspaces allow you to take advantage of the benefits of working alongside our team members with wide-ranging expertise in a relaxed yet focused environment. You can book online, over the phone, or in person at our Box Office.

What should I expect?
For your first visit, please arrive at our Box Office for a quick induction. You will be greeted by a member of the team who will sign you in and show you to your workspace. You’ll be given a guided tour of the facilities and a formal induction to talk through the use of the workspace. You will only need to complete this induction on your first visit.
If you have already completed your hire induction, you can grab a pass at the box office and get started as soon as you’re ready. If you are a regular hirer and have been given a pass, you can head to our visitors entrance at the rear of the Theatre building for easy access to your desk. This entrance is accessible by level access on the Roman Wall side of our building.
Your induction will include:
• Familiarisation with the building and facilities
• Office rules
• Printing and photocopying
• Optional phonelines
• Storage for personal belongings
• Fire safety protocols
You can hire a desk between Tuesdays – Saturdays. We take single-day bookings or you can also book multiple days up to three months in advance. The day starts at 10am and finishes at 6pm.
Your desk:
When booking your desk, please select if you would like a desk with a PC or a desk which you can set-up your own laptop. With both options you will have access to our fast broadband and optional extras including: printer, phone, postage.
You are welcome to drink at your desk, but we ask that eating takes place in our Green Room downstairs.
You will be in an open-plan office with air-con, the Mercury staff team as well as the hustle and bustle of a working theatre. The main rehearsal room is next door to the office so there’s always a buzz of exciting things going on which sometimes can be heard. Do bear in mind that you’ll be in a shared space, so you may wish to take look at our Meeting Rooms if you’ll need more privacy.
Meetings:
If you would like to hire our meeting room, please email [email protected] or speak to a member of the team on the day for any future bookings.
You are welcome to take any Zoom/Team meetings at your desk, but we ask for you to wear headphones. We have to make you aware that, when busy, the background noise in our office can be a little loud for video calls. You may wish to book a meeting room for these or speak to the hires team about alternative options available to you.
You can also have a meeting in our Café Bar downstairs where you can enjoy 10% off. Just show the barcode on your booking ticket and your visitors lanyard.
Printing and photocopying:
At the time of booking, you will be invited to add printing credit to your booking. During your induction a printing account will be created for you to use during your visits. Printing credits are valid until used.
Dedicated phone lines:
Our team can discuss options for use of a dedicated business phone line which is accessible via a mobile app or our desktop phones. Phone packages include UK landline and mobile calls only; international calls are charged at a premium. Phone lines are bookable for a minimum of 6-month contracts.
Post:
As a hirer, postage is available from our box office which can be paid for via cash or card. (Please purchase your own envelopes)
How to book:
Please book your workspace for the day(s) that you require below. The normal office day is from 10-6pm and on your first visit you will receive an induction by a member of the team on how to use the facilities.
Please select if you would like to have a PC available on your desk or if you would prefer to bring in your own laptop and use one of our clear desks.
If you would like to have the option of printing / photocopying in the office or if you’d like to take advantage of our discounted parking at St Mary’s car park, please add on this package while booking your desk.
